A Call for Local Visionaries: Your Legacy in Stone

The Box Elder Gold Star Memorial Committee invites local artists to participate in this unique tribute. The memorial, a large black granite monument to be placed at the historic Box Elder County courthouse, features four pre-designed front panels and four back panels awaiting original artistic contributions.

We are seeking evocative imagery that conveys the profound themes of Homeland, Family, Patriotism, and Sacrifice. The committee is looking for poignant artwork that serves as a permanent expression of remembrance for those who gave all and will serve as the basis for the ultimate inscriptions on the back four panels.

Project Details for Artists:

• Mediums: Submissions are welcome in Oil or Acrylic Fine Art, Pencil or Charcoal Sketches, Photography, and Calligraphy.
• Materials Note: Final selections will be etched into granite and may include limited epoxy paint. Images may be adjusted for scale and proportion to suit the stone surface.
• Recognition: Selected artists will be recognized and honored at the official unveiling.

Unveiling Ceremony

The chosen artwork will be unveiled at a special unveiling  ceremony on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon, held during the 11th annual Art on Main festival.

Artist Submission & Deadlines

To participate in the Gold Star Family Memorial project, please adhere to the following schedule:

• Pre-Registration: Required at www.visitbrighamcity.org/goldstar.
• May 2nd: Deadline for Conceptual Artwork (First Round Selection).
• May 10th: Deadline for Second Round Submissions.
• May 15th: Notification of Awarded Artists.
• May 22nd (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Final artwork must be delivered to the Brigham Academy Center.
